Privacy Policy

1. Who operates this service

Misfits Verification is operated by The Misfits community (“The Misfits”, “we”, “us” or “our”) to verify qualifying NFT holdings and manage holder roles in The Misfits Discord server.

For privacy questions, data requests or complaints, contact a Misfits administrator through the official The Misfits Discord server.

2. Information we process

When you start and complete verification, we process:

• your Discord user ID and current Discord holder-role information;
• the public Bitcoin Ordinals wallet address you choose to verify;
• the number of qualifying Misfits and OG Misfits held by that address;
• the roles applied to your Discord account; and
• verification and automatic holdings-check timestamps.

We create a short-lived verification session and signing challenge. Your signed message is checked to prove control of the address but is not saved in your permanent holdings record. We never request or receive your seed phrase, private keys or permission to move assets.

3. Why we use it

We use this information only to verify wallet ownership, check eligibility, assign or remove Discord holder roles, maintain role accuracy as holdings change, prevent misuse and troubleshoot the service.

Our lawful basis under UK data-protection law is our legitimate interest in securely operating holder-only community access. Where an action is optional, you choose whether to begin verification and sign the ownership message.

4. How verification works

The service sends the public wallet address to UniSat’s holdings API to retrieve public inscription information. It uses Discord’s API to read and update relevant server roles. The site and verification records are hosted using Netlify services.

Public blockchain information remains publicly available independently of this service. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

5. Storage and retention

Verification links expire after 10 minutes. A successful verification record is retained for as long as it is reasonably needed to maintain accurate holder roles, operate the verification service, resolve security or support issues, or meet legal obligations. It can also be deleted following a valid request, subject to any information we must retain for security or legal reasons.

We apply access controls and reasonable technical safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. Information is shared only as necessary with service providers involved in verification and hosting, including Discord, Netlify and UniSat, or where disclosure is required by law.

7. Cookies and analytics

The verification site does not currently use advertising cookies or non-essential analytics cookies. A cookie banner is therefore not currently shown. We will update this notice and request consent where required if that changes.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, and to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Contact a Misfits administrator through the official Discord server to make a request. We may need to verify that the Discord account belongs to you before acting.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. The latest version and update date will always appear here.
